GUIDELINES

GUIDELINES FOR GOOD GROUP COMMUNICATION

Keep information confidential - what is said in the room, stays in the room.

Don’t “out” others. This means if you see someone outside of the group, it is not your place to say where you met this person. Be respectful of others’ privacy.

Speak from your experience only, understanding that others may have a different viewpoint.

Respect group members and their experiences, even if they are not your own.

Be aware of how much time you take up; others need time to speak too.

We are not here to solve each others problems. Avoid telling others what we think they should or should not do.

NO CROSS TALK. Cross-talk occurs when individuals speak out of turn and interrupt one another. The group is disrupted, and focus is diverted from the individual whose turn it is to speak.

Try to stay on topic.

GROUP FORMAT

-Intros – just names.

-Who wants time to check-in?

During check-in you may mention other issues/concerns you want to discuss which are off-topic. We will make sure to have time later in the group to address these.

-Topic Discussion

-Other topics (if applicable)

-Who wants time to share any closing thoughts/feelings?

-$$$  $5 suggested donation per meeting. GenderWork is run completely on donations - whatever you are willing to contribute is put straight into web hosting, e-mail service, advertising, etc. Donate at the meetings or online via the donate page.
